In November of last year, I went to GenCon SoCal as a last-minute lark. I decided it would be cool to go to hang out with friends, so I teamed up with Luke Crane at his Burning Wheel booth and we had a blast. One of the nights of the con, we met up with Peter Adkison (founder of Wizards of the Coast and the current owner of GenCon) and a couple of his friends to play an RPG. Luke decided to run Lacuna Part I. and a good time was had by...us. Peter and the guys from GenCon were a bit mystified at what just happened (to say the least). We expected to be shown the door with a, "Well, that was fun. Night, guys!" After talking about the game for a spell, Peter seemed to come around to liking it...or at least appreciating what we did. That was cool. He asked us to stick around and chat. We did. He approached us with an idea. He said, "What can you do with this?" We had an answer immediately. And then we had jobs as Senior Game Designers at Hidden City Games. The project? Donut. - Jared Hidden City Games, Peter Adkison, Luke Crane and Jared Sorensen are working together on a tasty new project. Stay tuned to project-donut.com for details.
