Lest y'all think it's all gloom and doom here, let me take a moment to present the 2004 Skully Awards for Excellence in Roleplaying Games.
The Best Mormon Gunslinger Game Award goes to Vincent Baker for Dogs in the Vineyard (even though I still dislike the demons).
Todd "Too Sexy" Luikart gets the Multiple Man award for seemingly being in five places in order to write Red Star, Nocturnals, Skull & Bones and also for hawking Key 20 Direct warez and running his annual octaNe game.
The Graphic Design Maven Award goes to Matt Snyder as a kind of "Lifetime Achievement" award for his work on Nine Worlds, Dust Devils and my own games octaNe and InSpectres.
The New Face Award goes to Miss Annie Rush of Wicked Dead Brewing Company for her stellar debut, Run Robot Red!
Luke Crane gets the Human Caffeine Award for his amazing energy and sheer force of personality.
Matt Forbeck wins yet another Nicest Guy in Gaming Award (his mantle must be crowded).
The Uber-GM award goes to Todd Furler for tireless service at yet another game convention.
John Wick gets the Business Partner of the Year award for his superior salesmanship, design sense and friendship at the WDBC booth this year.
The "Can you hear me over the noise?" Award goes to Andy Kitkowski for sticking it out at the way too loud room where the Indie RPG Awards were announced.
The Gaming Gurus Award is split amongst Robin Laws, Jonathan Tweet and Ken Hite.
The Spirit of Martha Stewart is awarded to Jason Volare of Key 20 Direct for his stunning table displays of business cards.
The "Tooth Fairy" Award goes to Burl Zorn for taking our games and leaving us money under the pillow.
And last but not least, the 2004 Skully Award for Awesomeness goes to...me!
